Teaching Experience:

During the course of my graduate training, I independently taught Introduction to Environmental Policy (POL 223) as part of Purdue University’s Summer Start program. Additionally, I served as teaching assistant for Women in the Law (POL 360), Introduction to Public Policy (POL 120), and Politics of Regulation (POL 428). In 2021, I received the student-nominated Teaching Assistant of the Year award from Purdue’s Pi Sigma Alpha chapter.

Additionally, while at Purdue, I completed the Certificate of Foundations in College Teaching which focuses on building accessible and learner-centered class environments, and the IMPACT X+ program for course design which emphasizes student well-being and highly interactive courses through flexible teaching modalities.

Diversity & Inclusion Statement:

I am dedicated to the participation of diverse voices and perspectives in my classroom. I endeavor to create a welcoming space where we can engage thoughtfully with new ideas and sensitive topics as a community. This includes recognizing the variety of experiences and expertise we bring to the classroom, which can help us all enhance our understanding of different viewpoints. We all have a responsibility to maintain reasoned and respectful disagreement as we engage with one another in class. Additionally, we should recognize that intention and impact do not always align, and we should respect the impact something may have even if that was not the speaker’s intent. On my end, I am committed to seeking out opportunities to grow and I maintain an open policy (anonymously if needed) for any suggestions on how to improve our classroom or address any potential barriers to participation.
